Tanenbaum talks!
I think all my entries are now starting with a title containing an exclamation mark, but what should I say, it is really important this time.
As I am typing this, I am watching the keynote of FrOSCon 2008 held by no other than Andrew S. Tanenbaum State of Play dvdrip , famous operating system scientist (and probably more famous because of his ancient flamewar with Linus Torvalds).
He is a funny guy, bashing Windows all the time, but he also has some really good points about the development of operating systems in general.

Aufräumen! Aufräumen!
Ich habe nun fast drei Tage damit zugebracht, meine Datenhalden aufzuräumen. Gigabyteweise sind alle möglichen Altlasten in den Digishredder gewandert. Dafür ist vieles (fast) Vergessenes wieder aufgetaucht. Einiges davon können Oli und ich sehr gut für die 15-Jahr-Feier der Unix-AG Ende nächster Woche gebrauchen, auf der wir einen Kurzvortrag zum Thema "Incubating LinuxTag" halten werden.Half a Person movie

One of the best Linux and Open Source events is coming up this weekend: FrOSCon. Not only it is a great show, it is also located only about 15 minutes from my home.
I'll also give a talk on my company, tarent , and how it is working for one of the few real Flash of Genius dvd Open Source companies out there. So come along and meet our staff!
